Creating Sustainable Jobs

I understand the economic realities Missourians face today. I will oppose short-term economic fixes that would require large tax increases in the future. I know Missouri could save millions of dollars by eliminating wasteful tax credits and rolling those savings into new economic development programs aimed at attracting new business to West-Central Missouri. I support reforming Missouri’s tax code to eliminate tax giveaways which do not create jobs.

Economic Growth

There is really only one way for Missouri and the country to come out of the current recession and that is with jobs. In these uncertain times, we must find ways to promote a more business friendly atmosphere in our state particularly for small businesses who create most of our new jobs. Whether that be with incentives or a new tax structure similar to the Fair Tax is a question we must ask. I believe some type of overall tax relief must be enacted for all businesses to give them the incentive to invest money back into their businesses. The creation of new jobs is imperative to our economic future.

Small Business

As a small business owner, I understand the concerns of the small business community. I have been a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Missouri Propane Gas Association and National Federation of Independent Businesses for many years.

2nd Amendment and Right to Defend

I support an individual’s right to defend themselves and their property, and will fight to uphold Missouri’s Laws on Concealed Carry and Castle Doctrine. As a member of the NRA, I believe the 2nd Amendment is a fundamental right granted by the Constitution and Missouri must never waiver from it.

I will fight to protect the sanctity of life of an unborn child.

I am aware of the problems we have in our State. Although we are not bankrupt, as many states are, there are going to be some difficult days ahead of us. Missouri is one of only seven states still having a AAA bond rating. This is due, in part, to frugal spending decisions in the past. These are tough times for taxpayers and, like them; the State must live within its means.

Higginsville Habilitation Center

We must continue to support the Higginsville Habilitation Center who cares for those who cannot care for themselves. In these economic times we must also continue to support Lafayette County’s largest employer.

I am proud of what our area schools have been able to accomplish with the funds they have been given. I believe in giving them more control at the local level with fewer mandates from the State. There are going to be difficult times ahead but we must try to put as much of our budget as we realistically can into education. I believe in our public school system and have great respect for our teachers, school board members and school administrators.

Our freedom is due to those who have served in our Armed Forces.  As a son and a father of a Veteran, I know first-hand the sacrifices our Veterans have made.  I am truly grateful for all of the men and women who are serving and have served in the military.
